The Crossover, pt. 23 – Snitching is easy for hoes and tricks, but real g’s stand strong…Jay couldn’t sleep with so much brewing in her mind. She wandered through the cable channels trying to find something to watch, at least hold her attention for a little while. She had no success. Before she was able to turn the television off her room door crept open, and a face entered. It was Rosa. Jay couldn’t do anything but laugh out loud. She hadn’t seen Rosa in years. They made a pack when they separated due to chasing different dreams that if they ever crossed paths again they would be together.
Jay couldn’t control her laughter. Rosa put her fingers to her mouth trying to get her to bring it down a notch. She didn’t any of the nurses coming to the room, and finding her after visiting hours. She snuck up there.
Rosa actually worked for the feds. When she and Jay crossed paths she had just received her notification of promotion. She was already with the feds for five years before she moved into DEA. She became the liaison between the FBI, DEA, and the local police in the area. She was able to pull things off without notice. In the beginning, her loyalty was questioned because she came from the hood, and still occasionally ventured back home to see her peoples. In her line of work she meets some savory characters, and decided to use them to her advantage. Her and partner handle contract kills as a side hustle so far they have been really discreet with what they do. She didn’t ever plan on crossing paths with Jay, but her name has been coming up repeatedly with the DEA along with some other major players. It appears that their informant got herself killed at Jay’s baby shower. Most of top brass believe Jay knows what occurred, but isn’t saying anything. Rosa knew Jay wasn’t a snitch by any means and didn’t come to her expecting any information. Actually she was coming to warn her about her boy Savoy.
She told Jay all about his contract on Marcus. Jay was shell shocked. She couldn’t believe that Savoy came there earlier, smiled all in her face, while he made plans to kill her baby father. Rosa told her to be careful because the orders are reckless, if you get in the way; the killer has been authorized to kill you too.
Jay said nothing further. Rosa chuckled. She asked Jay if she remembered their pack. Jay said. “I remember” Nothing has changed. If something ever happens to Marcus, I will be running to you for support amongst other things. She pointed to her belly, Rosa smirked. She said. “I thought I would be the one bringing this news to you never the other way around” There was nothing more for them to say to one another.
Rosa exited the room. Once she was outside, she signaled her partner that the information was delivered. She walked off towards her car. She knew that by delivering this message to Jay it would start an all out drug war. She didn’t want anything to happen to Jay, but they needed to start making some arrest, and they were close until Ray got killed.
Jay cried.
She didn’t know what to do. She wasn’t planning on being in the life after this last caper. She and Lyric needed to talk ASAP. She didn’t want her friend or Marcus getting hurt or leading in jail. She knew there was more to Rosa’s visit than what she was admitting too. She believed that Savoy placed a contract on Marcus’ hit. He had moments where his jealousies got him in trouble. She just didn’t understand what was making him feel this way. She has always been in his corner, handling his business, and keeping in out of the line of fire. She looked at her phone. She refused to use it. If she knew Rosa, she would be expecting her to call Marcus or Savoy to figure out what the hell was going on. She hit the call button the side of her bed inside. One of the nurses came in to see what she needed.
It was another one of her father’s fans. She asked Jay about him earlier when she first came on shift. Jay used this to her advantage. She asked the nurse could she use her mobile phone. The nurse looked at her strangely before inquiring why. Jay winked. She told her she just wanted to make a quick call to her baby father, but he will recognize the hospital line and her cell number immediately. The nurse said. “Oh I understand”. She left the room, and came back ten minutes later with her cell phone. She informed Jay that no one should be told about this. She was doing wrong right now. Jay said. She understands. She didn’t see Rosa touch anything, but she checked the side of the back that Rosa stood by ensuring she wasn’t about to tell the feds or anyone listening anything indirectly.
Jay called her father first. She suspected he had this number in his new phone. It seems he been business getting acclimated to the latest technology. The phone rang twice before he picked up with his voice sounding seductive. Jay didn’t have time to entertain him so she whispered into the phone what she was told, and asked her father to go to Marcus’ house to check on him. If she couldn’t get directly involved, she did the next best thing.
She looked at the clock on the wall it read 3 o’ clock. She really needed to get some sleep. She was being released in the morning. Too much was going on and she didn’t trust anyone right now.
Jay could believe that Ray was snitching. She wanted more than anyone else. Yet, she didn’t want to hustle harder to accomplish it. She always felt that more was due to her, because of who her brother was. She wondered if he would be pride of her right now, if he learned that she was a rat bitch telling on her peoples to get ahead. Jay wondered who else in the organization she pulled into her web. Jay needed to find that out soon or they all would be facing multiple years of jail time for distribution, manufacturing, conspiracy, money laundering, etc. She didn’t want her unborn child going through the same withdrawals she did when she was younger wanting her mother and father, but couldn’t have either or due to death and prison.
