The Crossover, pt. 21… Are you the daddy? Typical Maury style shit…

Greg watched the house for a few houses no one else came to the house that didn’t mean that this Coca person wasn’t inside. Greg was getting ready to pull off since it was getting dark out. He noticed that Savoy opened his front door. He had changed his clothes. Greg wondered where he was going. He decided to follow him to see if he would take him to his target.

Savoy came out. He turned to lock his door. He looked up and down the block before moving towards his car. Greg slid down in his seat. He parked a car down from Savoy’s BMW. He truly didn’t notice it when he parked. Savoy walked down the street, talking to people as he got closer to his car. Unknown to Greg, someone had spotted him taking pictures and called Savoy on his mobile informing that someone was on his block. Savoy had no plans on approaching the vehicle just yet. He hoped the person planned on following him. He had to be careful the person in the car could be the cops worse yet the feds. This shooting made a lot of shit hot for no reason at all.

Apparently, Ray was snitching on the down low on everyone. Her loyalties were only to herself. He needed to get at Pinkey to see what she knew about this crap he was hearing.

The funny thing is no one has seen or heard from Pinkey since the shooting. It is like she disappeared, and she was a fixture in the community so how did she manage to just get up and go  unless someone helped her or she stole some of Ray’s money.

Savoy pulled out of the spot. He looked in the car. The person turned their face towards the houses as he got closer. He shifted his thoughts from the intruder back to Jay. He hoped he would be able to see her tonight. He had gotten her another gift. He sent flowers to the hospital to brighten up her day. He knew that she dislike being in there, but knew it was the best place for her for the moment. He ordered the most expensive arrangements each time. He knew that Marcus wouldn’t appreciate his actions. Oh well, he thought. He needs to step up his game. Savoy laughed coldly. He didn’t foresee Marcus being around too much longer. Once his plan was success, Jay would be in his arms crying and seeking comfort. He would take that opportunity to become her man, partner, and whatever she needed him to be.

Greg pulled out. He noticed that Savoy tried to look in his car someone must have finally noticed him on the block. He has been there for awhile sitting in his car. He decided against following Savoy. He went directly to Marcus instead.

Marcus was disappointed that he’s unable to get any information about Coca. He knows that she is in town somewhere. He would have to put out a reward if nothing hits within the next 48 hours. He wanted to matter handled before Jay came home. It isn’t going to happen. He hasn’t heard from Greg so that means that she wasn’t at Savoy’s house. He had to think about where else could she be while in there. He remembered that she had a cousin and a good friend that lived down the street from him when they were younger. He doesn’t know if they still resident there. He hasn’t been contact with them in years. The cousin was a good friend back then.

Marcus secured his glock to his back, and throw on a light jacket. He planned on going for a drive to the very old neighborhood. He randomly showed up to check in on family members still in the area. He had a few cousins that fall off and become users of their own product. He didn’t plan on ending up like them. Whenever he surfaced he hit them off with cash, never product.

As he was getting in his Escalade, Greg pulled up preventing him from exiting his spot. Marcus looked down wondering who would be that disrespectful. He laughed when he saw who it was, only Greg’s ghetto ass.

Greg rolled manually rolled down the passenger’s side window, and exchanged a few words with Marcus before handing him the camera. Marcus said he would check it out while he went across down. He thought about it. He told Greg to park his car, and jump in with him. He shouldn’t go there without backup especially if Savoy’s crew is involved. Greg said. “Okay”. He maneuvered into a spot and walked back to Marcus’ truck. He got in. Instantly Marcus pulled out. Greg didn’t even ask where they were going. It didn’t matter business needed to be dealt with.

Jay was in the hospital bored out of her mind. Lyric hasn’t been by to see her all day. She was worried. They had plans in motion, and they couldn’t afford for them to be interrupted by anyone. She didn’t think that Marcus would get involved; however, his look told her that she better make this her last run. She laughed internally. Her plan was to retire out of the game for good. She no longer had to worry about Ray. Meanwhile, her cousin Walter is suffering. He got shot. He doesn’t understand why. He also is dealing with some other issues.

The doctor came in earlier ruining her plans by informing her that she has to stay for one more night. She swore he did that on purpose. He’s holding her day by day instead of telling her an exact release date. She felt like she was in jail. She rubbed her stomach. She began talking to her unborn baby about the plans she had for him or her. She didn’t want him or her to be like its parents. She wanted a better life, and it started here. She made several promises. The baby moved each time she completed a promises. It was like the baby was holding onto every word. Jay knew she couldn’t break any of these promises or she would feel like an unfit mother.

While Jay continued her ritual, Det. Cobbs was standing outside of her door. She didn’t hear anything that could incriminate Jay in any crimes not that she could report it to anyone. She was there on her own. She wanted in on whatever Jay was working on, because she knew he career as an officer, detective was slowly coming to a close. She got out of the club, but one of the officers’s spotted her car. She wasn’t thinking when she drove her assigned police vehicle instead of her personal car. Although, she wouldn’t have been able to explain how she could afford her car on her present salary.

She stayed outside of the room for a few more minutes giving the mother some privacy. She saw another side of Jay. She was shocked to see Jay being soft and caring compared to how she is on the streets. She was respectful, but she had an alto ego that was dangerous.

Det. Cobbs smiled. She decided this wasn’t the place to have her discussion. She was about to turn away when she saw Savoy looking right at her. The look on his face was unreadable. She hoped he didn’t think that Jay was talking to her, because she never made it inside her room. She walked in his direction. He stopped her by putting his arm out. He asked what you were watching Jay doing that prevented you from entering her room. I’ve been standing her for a while and noticed several different facial expressions. You went from nervous, to happy, to sad, back to happy. What is she doing? Det. Cobbs shook her head. She said. She isn’t doing anything that isn’t expectant of a new mother, and walked away.

Savoy didn’t know how to take her response. He paused long enough to take a deep breath. One of the nurses, looked up and asked him who is he here to see? He pointed in the direction of Jay’s room. He never opened his mouth. The nurse said, you may want to hurry up because visiting hours will be ending soon.

Savoy wasn’t even sure of the hours when he left the house. He just wanted to see her. It has been awhile. He walked up to her door. The nurse watched him as he entered the room. She called Michael to inform him that some guy just entered his daughter’s room. Michael said. Thank you for the call. I will be there shortly. He was so nice to the nurses that he convinced them to keep him up to date on who visited his daughter. He was fully aware of what time Marcus left the room. He wasn’t any more impressed or disappointed in him. All he knew was Marcus needed to make a decision, which one was more important.

Michael told Pat his was heading out. She said okay, be safe. She told him to be home for dinner. He said. He would be this should take long.

Lyric was hanging out with her cousin trying to get more details about her drive. He kept telling her she had all the information that she needed until the day approached. She didn’t want to let on that she knew about the feds involvement that would be her surprise to him. She thought they were cool, but she is noticing that not even blood is loyal when it comes to money so she has to do what she needs to do. It is funny how so much has changed since the baby shower. It’s like everyone dropped their cover.

Back in the hood, Marcus’ Escalade made an entrance. It had everyone on high alert those individuals that were at the baby shower knew he was on the prowl for the shooter. No one was talking because no one knew who it was. It’s rumored that two people were involved. Marcus didn’t want rumors he wanted facts. Needless, that isn’t why he’s there today, He continued driving through. The corner boys all did the head nod, and turned away. They didn’t want anything to do with why he was in the area. It’s back enough he was bringing heat to them, and none of them had the man power to get at him. Most of them worked for him or Savoy.

There were very few independents that wanted beef with him on any level. They stayed quiet as long as they made money too.

Marcus finally confided in Greg about why they were in the area. Greg said nothing. He understood his position, and would step up when needed. When Marcus parked in front of Coca’s aunt house the door was open, as if someone was about to step out or had just walked in. He was unsure.

Before they handed towards the house, Greg told Marcus he needs to look at the pictures on the camera. Marcus glance at the shots but didn’t comment on them. Greg just assumed he didn’t know the female, but he had a strange feeling that he did so he wanted him to look once more to confirm his suspicions. Marcus took the camera from Greg. He looked down, and shook his head. He turned to Greg and told him to get the boys in gear because we’re going to have problems in a few days. Greg asked why. Marcus told him I’ll tell you after we handle this. This situation is more important right now. Jay comes home tomorrow and I want it dealt with before she goes off again. Greg understood. He had two baby mothers of his own. They both know about each other, and actually get along for the kids.

Marcus opened his door first. He stepped out as the door on the house closed. He found that to be a coincidence. They must have been watching him from the door. Greg stepped out next. They both walked up to the fence. Marcus opened it, and walked in. Greg was right behind him with his hand on his glock. He didn’t know what they were walking into. Marcus walked up the front steps, and rung the door bell. They heard someone move around behind the door. They both shifted to the side just in case the person wanted to shot through the door. Seconds later, they heard a female voice nervously say “who is it?” Greg was about to respond when Marcus stopped him. He motion from him to stay quiet. Marcus spoke up. He informed the person who it was, and she said one moment please. She cracked the door open, and it was Coca standing there with her boys behind her.

Marcus just looked at her with disgust in his eyes. He asked her to open the door and come out so they could discuss this matter as adults. She told him one second. No one is her to watch the boys so you have to come inside. I am not leaving in the house alone. Marcus didn’t want to go inside with the boys so close by just in case something jumped off. The look in her eyes told him that someone else was in the house with her. He told her she could come out while His boy watched the boy’s right there in the doorway. She hesitated for a minute before agreeing. She closed the door. When she re-opened it some dude was there with her putting on his coat. He looked out the window briefly to see who was knocking at the door and saw Marcus. He didn’t want any parts of what was about to go down. He kissed her on the check and left. He didn’t even look back. He was curious. He heard about what happened down at the club, and he asked her if she had anything to do with it. She stated that she didn’t. All she wanted was a father for her kids.

She waved to him as he pulled off, and then throw on a shawl before stepping outside. Greg moved towards the door but Coca stopped him. She said her boys will be okay sitting on the couch with the front door as long as she didn’t move off the steps, which she has no intentions of doing. Marcus nodded at Greg to stay where he was. He doesn’t trust Coca whatever he felt for her is long gone and she showed her new colors the other evening at the party. He was still blown about that, and it showed. Once she on the porch with Marcus all she could do was concentrate on her feet. She had nothing to say. The butterflies in her stomach were on high alert. Marcus attempted to get the dialogue started. He asked her questions about her pregnancy. He asked her when were the boys born, where were they born? He inquired about the time delay in notifying him of their existence. He even asked her if Savoy was aware of what she did.

Coca began crying. She whimpered. She stuttered… n-n-n-no. He wasn’t aware of my plans. He just wanted us to reconnect on some love shit or something like that is what I gathered from our encrypted talks.

As Marcus suspected Savoy had something to do with her sudden reappearance. He asked her if she slept with Savoy while they were together. Coca’s shoulder sunk. She didn’t want to answer that question. She didn’t want her son’s father to be Savoy. She looked up finally, looked Marcus in the eyes and answered. Marcus wasn’t so sure that her answer was sincere. She answered no, but after a glimpse of those boys they belonged to one of them. He told Coca to schedule an emergency important at the clinic for DNA testing. He didn’t care how much it cost. He needed closure before he could move on with his current girlfriend, his future wife. This made Coca cry even harder. She truly thought in her mind that he would take her at her word, and accept the boys. She had this fairytale that they would live happily ever after. Well her bubble busted just then. She had to become even stronger for her boys, because the money cow had clearly told her he wasn’t just accepting anything that she said. He needed proof.

Greg interrupted and said. Why don’t you make the appointment he suggested to Marcus this way you know it will get done. Once a time has been agreed upon, we or I can come and get her. Marcus thought about for a moment. He needed this over quickly. He thought back about a book he read where the man took DNA samples himself. He swabbed the girl mouth, and placed the q-tip in a plastic bag to preserve the contents. Marcus decided he will go that route. He asked Coca to go get four or five q-tips and plastic bags. He will swab the boys himself, and label the bags like he worked for CSI. Coca stopped crying, she wiped her eyes with the back of her hands. She couldn’t get out of the mess now. She really didn’t have any other choice. She went inside leaving the door open per Marcus request. She disappeared out of sight for several minutes. He heard movement in the rear of the house. He was ready to pull his gun if need be.  He hoped that Coca didn’t do anything silly.

Coca came back to the door 15 minutes later. She had six q-tips in her hand along with a sandwich bag for each one. Marcus told her to call the boys to the door. Coca didn’t want to. She turned away from him trying to delay. He tapped her on the shoulder nicely persuading her to get this done before it got nasty. Coca called her boys to the door. She introduced them to Mr. Marcus and Mr. Greg. She asked each boy to open his mouth, and Marcus swabbed them and placed the q-tip in a baggie immediately. He then swabbed himself, and Coca just as a precaution. He knew the boys were hers, but he rather be safer than sorry in the end.

Greg felt like Steve on an episode of Jerry Springer minus the fighting. Once the Marcus completed his task, he departed the porch without saying another word to her. Greg lingered for a minute longer; he sensed that she had something to say but nothing come so he walked off as well. They left Coca on the porch looking broke down.

Coca felt sorry for herself. Unknown to anyone else, she did sleep with someone else a few weeks later. She slept with some dude she met through her cousin at the club. She was drunk, horny, and wanted someone to pay attention to her body. She didn’t want to call Savoy up. She shouldn’t have tried her hand with Marcus he wasn’t the same man she dealt with so many years ago. He has definitely changed, and taken on a more controlled, confident, and street wise attitude. She went inside once Greg was off the porch. She needed to help. She better get on her knees to pray to the man above, and not to suck any dick that’s what got her in this mess in the first place.
