The Crossover pt. 20 – …coming to an end soon…

Jay began asking questions once she was scheduled to be released from the hospital. Her father stayed with her the entire time. The hospital staff enjoyed his company; he stayed flirting with the young and old nurses while they were in the room. They knew he shouldn’t be in there, but made an exception since he was so nice to them. Jay and her father talked one night about life, and it consequences.  Jay informed her father that she planned on leaving the life once she had to the baby. She doesn’t think she could handle another shooting. She has been involved directly and indirectly in two. She must really have pissed off the stars. She wants to be around to see her child grow up and achieve the things she wasn’t able to do due to her decisions. Her father told her she was still young enough to go back to school, learn a trade, and open a business. She didn’t have to work for anyone. He had money, and he hoped that she had a stash as well especially with her grandiose plans of leaving the game behind. He asked her about Marcus and Savoy. He wondered if Savoy would be happy with her choice to leave the game. From what Michael heard on the streets, Savoy counted heavily on Jay.

He brought this up this up to Jay. She said. She would have to deal with him when the time comes. She didn’t foresee him having a problem as long as she didn’t go into business for herself becoming one of his competitors, which would be problematic since she knew all of his connects, spots, etc. She didn’t even plan on telling Marcus either. She suspects that he already knows.

Michael was impressed once again with his daughter. He wasn’t there to raise her, but she has a lot of heart and know-how. He couldn’t take credit for any of it.

He finally left when Pat arrived on day three. She told him to let the lovebirds have the room. She sensed that Jay had something on her mind and it didn’t pertain to them. Michael was relentless at first, but he gave him. He glanced at Michael with a knowing look. Michael was disappointed that his first opportunity to meet Jay’s father ended on such a negative note. He made a silent promise to himself to have a talk with him. He knew that he could influence Jay to change her mind about being his wife. He didn’t want that at all. He truly loved Jay and his unborn child.

As soon as they were alone, Jay started in. She wasn’t nagging or belittling. She had an earnest concern about what transpired. She told him she wanted answers. She wasn’t saddened that Ray was gone. Although, whoever took her out had lifted a burden from several people because Ray was a pain in the ass. Jay wanted answers about Coca.

She wanted to know what Marcus was going to do about those two little boys. Marcus went off. He reaffirmed that those boys weren’t his, but he admitted that he used to date her for several years. He sheepishly said that she was his first true love.  Jay wasn’t mad at his admittance; however, she wanted to know why this bitch would wait until now to tell him about her kids. Marcus said. I have the same question.  He believed Savoy had something to do with her performance and he planned on approaching him before the week is out. His other concern was tracking down the shooter from the club.

He told Jay he planned on hooking up with Savoy. Jay told him not to until she was released from the hospital. She knew that their meeting would lead to fighting. Savoy may have something to do with the Coca situation, but she didn’t think he had anything to do with the shooting. Marcus looked told her otherwise.

Marcus said he planned on contacting Coca to schedule an appointment to have a DNA test done. He didn’t really look at the kids. He was definitely certain that they weren’t his. He wondered if Savoy slept with Coca. Back in the day, Savoy had a thing for sleeping with his leftovers. Marcus never understood why Savoy always wanted to females he had. Savoy wasn’t a bad looking dude even with his scar. He had to find out where she was staying first. He hasn’t spoken to her in years, and honestly thought that she had moved out of the state to be with some high classed mo-fo. It is interested to see how things have changed. He hasn’t changed much, but he plans on truly leaving the game there were too many near misses. The next time someone decides to bust off…he or Jay may be laid out on the floor.

He had to handle this immediately. He and Jay talked for several hours. Jay wasn’t happy but she eased up about the Coca situation. She told him about some things that she had been working on that neither he nor Savoy was privy too. He was upset. He couldn’t believe that she was operating like that while with child. He suspected that Lyric had a major role in what was going on. He had to talk to her as well, because she wasn’t looking out for her friend. At this point, she was only looking out for herself. Apparently, Lyric convinced her cousin to allow her to move some of his product and money; however, she wasn’t going to take it where he thought. She was going to keep it local, and take sixty percent off the top and give the rest to Jay. Jay didn’t really want to drugs. She wanted to money. She planned on talking to Lyric about that. Her cousin had informed her that due to Jah’s connection to Det. Cobbs the police were aware of his movements. He did way too much pillow talking with her. She advised her superiors who in turned notified the feds, since multiple states where involved in his organization.

Marcus was approached the night of the baby shower by one of Jah’s associated about possibly purchasing his bar. He no longer wanted. Apparently it was hot now, but he said it was a good investment for someone who could cover his or her money. Marcus had legit businesses, especially his music so Jah’s statement wasn’t all that surprises. No one really knew what he was worth, not even Jay. He gave her a roundabout figure. He knew could trust her; however, there was something he needed to keep to himself.

Marcus left the hospital in a sour mood. As he exited the parking lot, he drove past Det. Cobbs. He wonders why she is on her way to the hospital. He ignored her. She wasn’t important to him at the moment. He had to get Coca on the phone, and get this DNA thing done. Jay was getting released from the hospital in the morning. The doctor unexpectedly announced that he wanted to keep her an extra day to ensure everything was okay with the baby. The baby has experienced several traumatic events. Jay was handling like a trooper but their baby may still end up with special needs.

Marcus just wanted a healthy baby.

Marcus drove to one of his houses to check in. He needed one of his boys to go on a discreet mission. He asked him to go past Savoy place, and see if Coca and her kids are there. If so, call him immediately. Greg left. He didn’t know all of what was going on, but he saw the fiery behind Marcus’ eyes. “Lightening” was back in business. He felt sorry for the chick. He would do what was asked of him, because he didn’t want any problems with his friend and boss.

Greg drove his old Maxima around the area so no one would notice him. He saw several people coming and going in the hood. No one really paid any attention to his vehicle that is exactly what he wanted. He pulled in a spot a few doors down from Savoy’s home. He got comfortable since he expected to be there for awhile. It wasn’t long before Savoy exited the house, but he was with another chick. She looked familiar yet Greg couldn’t place her face or name. He continued watching them. Savoy walked her to a cream Mercedes coupe. He opened the door for her and everything. Greg was glad that he brought his camera with him. Marcus didn’t say anything about taking pictures, but he sensed that Marcus needed to see these ASAP.

Savoy turned and walked back to his house. He wasn’t aware that he was being watched by one of Marcus’ boys. He knew that the police where on him since the shooting. They believed he knew more than he was telling. He knew nothing. He was doing his on underground investigation. He gun man was still acting shady. He hated to believe that he had something to do with it.

He needs to go visit Jay in the hospital. Her father had the place on lock down. He had to speak to her. There were a lot of whispers in the streets, about her, Ray, Det. Cobbs, and Marcus. He knew that Jay would tell him the truth even if it hurts that’s why he respected her so much. She held no punches. He went upstairs. He wanted to look nice for her. He didn’t know if Marcus would be there so…. His feelings for her were getting harder and harder to control. He had to get Marcus, his brother, out of the way. The surprise visit from Coca was a mess, and he wouldn’t be able to talk himself out of the drama she brought to the shower even though he wasn’t aware of her motive. His sole purpose was to have Marcus reconnect with her on some lovey-dovey type shit.

And that backfired on his ass…
