The Crossover, pt. 14 - The day of the the shower has arrived...finally...

Marcus went placed the club to see if everything was as it should be. He was impressed with all the hard work that Lyric and the owner put into making the baby shower a success. He called his boy to ensure that he would be there on time for the party. He got the solid I will be there once I close out at the radio station. They spoke for a few more minutes, and then Marcus moved on. He left the club. He decided to drive through the hood to see what the word was.

As he drove, he spotted folks walking and driving around definitely getting ready for later. He knew some folks were planning on getting it in tonight.

He went home. When he left earlier Jay wasn’t feeling too well. She was complaining about her side hurting. She didn’t want to disappoint anyone so she stayed in the bed for most of the day while Marcus did the running errand. She asked Lyric to double check everything just in case Marcus overlooked anything important. Lyric agreed. Lyric knew tonight would be talked about for a very long time. It was biggest shower ever thrown, and the entire hood was going to be there. This would be first that everyone would try to get along for the sake of Marcus, Jay, and their crews.

Marcus arrived home, and Jay was still in the bed but on the phone appearing to be in better spirits then from when he left. He was glad about that. He walked into the room, and rubbed her head. He noticed that her cornrows were fresh. He had to do a double take. He didn’t say anything since she was on the line and he wasn’t sure who she was talking too. Once she hung up, he inquired about her new do. She told him that Renee came over to do it as a surprise. She called and wanted to know where I was so she could do my hair. It didn’t take her long to wash and braid it. Her explanation didn’t sit well with him, yet, he let it go. She had no reason to lie to him about her whereabouts.

Jay did sneak out to meet with her cousin. She hadn’t spoken to her in awhile, and needed to know where they stood with the story, the informant, etc. She didn’t like the news that she had received. Her cousin told her that she had to back out or people would soon begin to question there were too many coincidences taking place that could be linked to her. Jay understood. She appreciated what her cousin has done for her this far.

It’s now 6 o’clock and everyone is in the house, making calls and getting ready for the party of the year. Although, it is a baby shower…folks planned on having a good ole time courtesy of Jay and Marcus.

Marcus and Jay still remembering their episode from this morning decided to take another shower together. Jay believed it is the excitement of the shower that his increased Marcus’ sex drive. She wasn’t complaining by any means she is enjoying this new Marcus, and his assertiveness when it came to satisfying her.

It’s now 7o’clock.

Jay’s aunt calls her to inform her that she will be bringing a quest. Jay told her that is great. I am glad that you found you a friend to keep you company. Her aunt laughed lightly before hanging up. Pat knew once Jay saw her father her emotions would soar. They are both elements of the streets hopefully he can catch her before she gets caught up even further. He is one of the lucky few that came home from a bid to have money waiting for him that doesn’t happen to everyone. He wasn’t even aware that he had it. He brought Jay a several months worth of unisex clothing for the baby, pampers, and a crib. He hoped that she didn’t already have one. He wasn’t there for her when she needed him. He planned on being there for his grandchild for as long as he was on this earth.

Pat and Walter went in together and purchased Jay a car seat and stroller set from Eddie Bauer. The set was very expensive. Pat knew that she couldn’t came any less especially with Jay’s father making up for lost times. Walter also got her a gift card to the mall so she could get any remaining items that she doesn’t get tonight. He knew folks would be pulling out the best for his cousin. She well respected in the hood.

Savoy told Coca not to worry about a gift, she was his unexpected gift to marcus this evening. He knew that he had to get something for his baby Jay. He purchased her a condo on the Harbor for 1.6 million dollars. No one was aware of his purchase, he wanted to surprise her. He had the condo furnished and everything. His lawyer finalized the details earlier with him. He was satisfied with the outcome. He hoped that Jay was happy with her gesture. He didn’t particularly want Marcus in the condo; however, he knew that it would be unless his planned worked out. He was wishing for the best. He spoke to Coca earlier. He would pick her up. She was very insisting that she meet him there, but he want to ensure that he was present when Marcus saw this blast from his past.

Coca didn’t believe in going empty handed. She picked up a card from the Walgreens on North Ave when she was out running errands for her sons. She purchased matching pants set for them from Macy’s. She didn’t have the extra money to spend, but she refused to have her sons looking less than presentable when meeting their father for the first time. Her best friend asked her if she was sure that she wanted to do this at Marcus’ baby shower. The concern was everyone from the hood was going to be there. There would be no going back once the floodgates where opened. Coca said. She is ready for whatever the outcome is.

Pinkey went against her better judgment and placed 500$ in card for the parents to be. She hoped nothing jumped off. She was trying to put as much good karma in the air as humanly possible.

Ray refused to get a gift. She knew Savoy was going to outdo everyone there with his gift. She wanted to end her feud with Jay. She prayed to the man above that it would happen tonight. She hoped that Jay had room for forgiveness in her heart.

The malls were happy today with the amount of money that went through them.

Lyric didn’t know what to get her unborn godchild. She already placed money into an account for him or her. She wanted to bring something to the party. It would be the talk of the town, and no one should want to arrive empty handed. She went to Burberry store in Towson. She purchased Jay a diaper bag and a wallet. The combination would give them a laugh.

Marcus had the engagement ring in his pocket. He felt heavy just sitting there for the moment for him to pull it out surprising Jay and the attendees. He called Lyric. He wanted to double check with her ensuring that everything was in place. Per Lyric, everything was in its place. She spoke to the owner of Club One. He was waiting on one more waitress to arrive. He assured her that even with this one waitress still out; he had enough people on staff to work the crowd, and man the bars on each level. This evening he would have the people at each bar with the element about to enter his establishment he knew that their tips will be lovely. He told everyone that he wanted a percentage of whatever their tip equated too.

It’s now 8:30ish… Marcus called his man the DJ to make sure that he was where he was supposed to be. When he answered the phone, he heard the music playing the background. He asked did he need anything else. Marcus did not plan on leaving Club One until the last person walked out. He wasn’t walking Jay through the crowd anymore than he had too. He knew Jay wouldn’t appreciate this. She was a “G”, but he didn’t want anything happening to her. He also planned on leaving his gun in the house. His boys were told to be ready just in case any thing sparked off.
