The Crossover, pt. 10 (is it really???)

After Marcus got out of his meeting, he called Jay to check in regarding her doctor’s appointment. He knew Jay was disappointed that he cancelled going at the last moment. He had all intentions of being there until Jason scheduled this meeting. She answered during the chorus line of Bonnie & Clyde by Jay-z ft. Beyonce; it was one of her favorite songs. Marcus was just chanting along with it until he heard her laughter. He said hello, after a smile crept across his face on the other side of the line. He inquired about her and baby’s well being. She explained how there were some noticeable complications with the baby; however, after some testing it appears that everything was now under control. They were having a healthy baby. Marcus got extremely quiet. He said absolutely nothing for what seemed like forever. Although she could hear him breathing heavily trying to contain his rage, he finally spoke up trying calmly to address her statement. He said. Why did you keep this from me? When did we start having secrets?

Jay couldn’t honestly answer his question. She wanted to deal with it on her own since so much was going on, on the home front.  She didn’t want to distract him anymore than necessary. Unbeknownst to everyone, Jay had her own investigation going on. She has a cousin that works in the Southeast district with connections to the street. No one has been bragging about shooting her p anywhere around town, it was too quiet, which is why she suspected the shooter was someone close to her. Whoever the person is he / she cannot afford for it to get out. Jay planned on starting a rumor of her very own to force the culprit’s hand. She knew how the hood operated and loyalties were about to be beyond tested.  She didn’t give a fuck.

One the strongest would survive.

One of her cousins informants will go around pre-selected hoods repeating the story he was told. Some would disbelieve it, and ignore it as a junkie talking shit. She wanted the story to begin over East Baltimore, and then it would finish over West. It would have it time to marinate in some circles, causing some to question their peoples. The informant wasn’t fully educated on his ricks. He could get killed throwing her name around especially if some took it literally, as she hoped. She planned on throwing Savoy into the mix. She sensed something was up after she spoke with him a few days ago. He was unusually distant. He didn’t say much. He only spoke to her idly about business and her health. She knew Savoy too long something was definitely going on and he’s not keeping her in the loop. They never mistrusted each other, but times were changing.

She would figure it all out shortly. She had to consider the possibilities. She remembered the bar that the crew occasionally hung in. The rumor had to eventually end up there, in order, to make the insider’s nervous.

Jay’s cousin lucked up her informant got locked up for having two baggies and an open container. He was currently being held at the city jail this worked out to their advantage. Jay’s cousin went down to the jail to visit her informant, and told him to have random conversations leaving bits and pieces of the story with different individuals. She promised that she would get him out in two days. Meanwhile, he knew not to mention certain names on the N section where he was housed. He did what was asked of him without truly getting involved or so he thought. There were two other addicts on the tier. They left the tier to go get their methadone. He told them the fragmented story, only mentioning Jay’s name. He knew that they would repeat the story hoping to score some drugs while locked up. He didn’t want any problems with Jay, the cop, or Savoy. They were all major players in the hood. By the time the dramas unfolded, he would be home and heading out of town. He had no plans of telling anyone where he was going.

Jay didn’t often pray, but she prayed to the man above wanting her plan to work out. She had so much going on on the low that no one would every suspect that she initiated it all. Even Marcus didn’t know and it was happening right under his nose. She didn’t tell even tell Lyric about part two of her plan. Getting back to Marcus, she had to soothe his bruised ego somehow. He really felt neglected, underappreciated due to her leaving him out. She would figure out a way to make it up to him, but right now she bigger fish to fry.

In the background Ray was trying to figure out how to apologize to Jay especially after hearing Pinkey’s account of what really transpired that evening. She knew she was too deeply involved and she would have to admit to things she planned on taking to the grave. Ray had finally slept with Pinkey two days after their meeting. Ray and Pinkey’s encounter was natural. Pinkey wanted to get with her again. This was the first stud she’s ever been with that knows how to utilize a strap-on the right way, like it was a real dick…like a man. Ray told her they had to stay low no one could know they were messing around. Ray couldn’t anymore drama on her plate.

For her it was too late, because Savoy saw Pinkey going into her building for himself. He knew she looked familiar. It didn’t hit home until she was out of his view. She cleaned up nicely he thought. At first, he wondered who she going to see, but he assumed who the perpetrator was. His sixth sense told him it was Ray. He wanted to know how and when did they cross paths.

Jay was becoming increasingly nervous about being someone’s mother. She prayed that that she’ll be able to handle the responsibilities. She also dealt with some of her other concerns with her current plans. She knew part two will have to wait until later. Savoy had his plans in motion. He had Coca coming to the baby shower. He had someone spying on Ray, while Ray was observing Jay. He wanted a piece of Marcus’ musical income now that he has an in with Jason. He also was worried about Brock and his erratic behavior.

Marcus overheard one of Jay’s conversations and knew that she was pushing weight more than he thought, and more than what Savoy appraised him of. They both told him that she had slowed. He believed it. He recently learned she was handling her business through Lyric and others. She rarely stepped into the hood. She barely spoke to him or Lyric after the shooting. Needless, she’s been talking to someone. Marcus wasn’t threatened by her assertiveness. He wanted a woman who could stand on her very own. He pushed his thoughts towards Jason and how he planned on handling his betrayal. Marcus had several concerns – 1. How much money did Jay make for Savoy? 2. Who broke into his apartment? 3. What is Detective Cobbs really after?  4. Is she really ready to be someone’s father? 5. Does he have enough of a stash to leave the game and totally concentrate on his music? 6. Did he want to ask Jay to marry him and become the complete package (a family man)?

Lyric hooked up with her cousin, Jah, and put him onto the lady detective due to Lyric’s information he avoided a major raid on his establishment. He told his boys not to sell any drugs out of the club. He still hasn’t told anyone he owned the bar. Lyric lucked up and he gave her some money as a “thank you”. Lyric was surprised by his actions. She wasn’t expecting it; however, it pushed her stash up by several thousands. She still wanted to get at Jah about increasing her role in his organization / crew. She wasn’t totally satisfied with her stash. She didn’t have any beefs with Jay, because she always gave Lyric more than enough. Lyric hoped her cousin will be receptive to her request. He rarely told her no. He knew what she was about.

Det. Cobbs laid in her bed wondering why she continuously makes the wrong decision. She felt she shouldn’t be bothering Marcus with this. She couldn’t help it. She has gone to bed many nights with him on her mind tonight was no difference except her boss was laying next to her attempting to catch his breath, and an erection again. She knew once she told him that she will not sleep with him anymore to avoid suspension… her boss would flip out. She believed that she could counteract anything that he pulled. She just didn’t want any of her male counterparts finding out or they will think she fucked her way up the ranks, which isn’t totally true. Det. Cobbs wasn’t any further along in her case since showing up at Marcus studio. She’s been unable to get anyone to talk.

Even the witness, she talked too originally changed her accounts of what happened. She called Det. Cobbs telling her that her boyfriend did it. After some checking around, Det. Cobbs learned the boyfriend was nearby chilling with one of his girlfriend’s friends so it was a complete waste of time. She also was curious about why Jah stopped calling. He was just what the doctor ordered after having sex with the chief. She had to get back into Jah’s good grace quickly. She needed some good dick.

Walter was itching to tell Jay that her father was home. He knew she was not into public drama and hated people in her business. He knew his mom was trying, but she could be creating a hostile situation unknowingly. He has been staying away from the gangs solely concentrating on school. He met a nice young lady in the student union that appreciates his dry sense of humor, and weird sense of style. They’ve been hanging for the last few weeks. She did ask how he injured himself. He told her it wasn’t all that exciting and left it there. His mother was overly joyous when she learned he had a “regular” female companion. She was nervous at one point, thinking he was into men. Walter bruises healed up nicely, but his arm was still in a sling.  He couldn’t wait for Jay to have her baby so she could fuck Ray up. He knew Jay was itching to get active. She was one of Savoy’s main enforcers. She fought females, but she has put her hands on some dudes in the neighborhood as well. Everyone knows not to fuck with Jay.
